Services on the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro were delayed for over two hours on Wednesday due to signaling issues, according to officials. The Magenta Line connects Janakpuri West in Delhi and Botanical Garden in Noida. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued a tweet to inform commuters about the delay.
Signaling Issue on Magenta Line Section
The DMRC reported an “intermittent signaling issue” on the section between Terminal-1 IGI Airport and Sadar Bazar Cantonment Metro stations of the Magenta Line. Trains were operated at restricted speed between these two stations from 7:59 am to 10:30 am, resulting in train bunching in that section.
Measures Taken to Minimize Inconvenience
To minimize the delay and inconvenience to passengers, services were regulated according to a plan during the signaling issue period. Centralized announcements were made at station premises and inside trains to keep passengers informed.
Updates and Alternate Arrangements
An announcement was also made on the Blue Line to inform passengers about the delay on the Magenta Line. Trains were run in a short loop from Terminal-1 IGI Airport station towards Botanical Garden to accommodate the rush of passengers. Additional staff was deployed at busy stations to ensure smooth passenger flow during peak hours.
Resumption of Normal Services
The signaling issue in the affected section was resolved at 10:30 am, and train services returned to normal on the entire Magenta Line. The DMRC provided an update on Twitter around 10:40 am, confirming the resumption of normal services on the corridor.
