Triple Treat: 3 Malayalam OTT Premieres Dropping June 20 — From Comedy to Crime to Family Drama

Dhyan Sreenivasan leads two releases, Mammootty gears up for his double feature, and JioHotstar dives deep with a dark new season of Kerala Crime Files.

Malayalam cinema is pulling a full-on triple threat this Friday with three brand-new OTT releases dropping across major platforms — and they couldn’t be more different. One’s a rowdy pre-wedding comedy, another dives into the dark side of police duty, and the third is a family drama that sounds like it was plucked straight from your mom’s WhatsApp group chat (in the best way).

Here’s your inside scoop on the week’s hottest digital premieres, all set to stream on June 20.

‘Aap Kaise Ho’: Bachelor Party Mayhem, Kerala Style

Let’s start with the one that looks like pure chaos — the lovable kind. ‘Aap Kaise Ho’, dropping on Sun NXT, stars Dhyan Sreenivasan as Christy, a soon-to-be groom whose bachelor party goes completely off the rails. Think “Hangover” but make it Malayali, with uncles, awkward situations, and plenty of head-shaking comedy.

The cast is stacked with familiar faces who basically own the comedy scene — Aju Varghese, Sreenivasan, Ramesh Pisharody, and Sudheesh. And yes, the real-life father-son duo of Sreenivasan and Dhyan are back together, which already gives it that cozy, old-school charm fans love.

According to Livemint, the film is all about the unexpected guests, bad decisions, and cultural mix-ups that come when wedding traditions clash with modern-day bachelor antics. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, it’s probably got a “simbly” somewhere — and if the trailer’s anything to go by, you’ll laugh in that way only a Malayalam comedy can deliver.

‘Kerala Crime Files – Season 2’: The Dark Side Gets Darker

Then there’s ‘Kerala Crime Files – Season 2’, landing on JioHotstar, and it’s… a whole mood shift. Gone are the laughs — this one’s tense, murky, and dripping with moral ambiguity. Director Ahammed Khabeer is back in the saddle and he’s not holding back.

This season follows the mysterious disappearance of CPO Ambili Raju, and things unravel from there in ways that’ll probably make you question every “system” you’ve ever trusted. Livemint reports that Khabeer has asked viewers to “watch it with an open mind,” which is usually code for “we’re not here to give you clean answers.”

Expect a story that drills into police power, ethical gray areas, and the kind of behind-the-scenes dysfunction no one really wants to admit. If Season 1 was a gripping procedural, Season 2 looks more like an existential unpacking of the badge itself.

Think “Delhi Crime” but with more humidity and fewer filters — and that’s a compliment.

‘Prince and Family’: A Wedding, a Boutique, and (Probably) Some Passive-Aggressive Drama

And finally, we’ve got ‘Prince and Family’ on ZEE5, the kind of feel-good family drama that could totally become your next comfort binge. The plot? A soft-spoken bridal boutique owner from Kerala’s quiet corners marries into a very different kind of family. You already know what’s coming: emotional whiplash, social awkwardness, and more than one “ente daivame” moment.

Siddique and Bindu Panicker bring the veteran presence, while Dhyan Sreenivasan makes his second OTT appearance of the week (guy’s not sleeping, clearly). You’ve also got Johny Antony, Manju Pillai, and Raniya rounding out a solid ensemble that seems tailor-made for some intergenerational fireworks.

Livemint says it’s lighthearted, heartfelt, and packed with those little cultural details — like who controls the remote or how much gold is too much gold at a wedding — that Malayalam cinema always gets right.

Elsewhere in OTT Land: Mammootty, Maharani & More

Not to be outdone, Mammootty is also making moves on the streaming scene. According to Filmibeat, he’s got not one but two OTT releases lined up soon — ‘Bazooka’ and the fabulously titled ‘Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse’. Dates are under wraps for now, but the buzz is real.

Also floating around is ‘Maharani’, a quirky comedy starring Roshan Mathew and Shine Tom Chacko, which Times of India says has quietly landed online — though which platform it’s on still seems to be the internet’s best-kept secret.

Earlier June had its fair share of low-key drops too, like ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’, ‘Padakkalam’, and ‘DD Next Level’, all of which, as Onmanorama notes, cater to niche crowds — gym bros, political junkies, and college rebels alike.

Bottom Line: It’s a Good Week to Stay In

So whether you’re craving high-stakes drama, a family feud that’s more passive than aggressive, or just a good laugh over bad decisions, Malayalam cinema’s got you sorted this week.

Cancel your weekend plans, grab that leftover biriyani, and let the bingeing begin.
