In response to heavy rainfall impacting various districts in Tamil Nadu, schools in Vellore and Ranipet have been temporarily closed for students in classes 1 to 5. This precautionary measure was enacted by the District Collectors of Vellore and Ranipet on Tuesday.
Several areas, including Madhurathakam, Cheyyur, Thiruporur, Thirukkalukundram, Chengalpattu East Coastal Road, and Sholinganallur, experienced moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the night, as reported by ANI.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, in a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today. Additionally, IMD’s forecast anticipatessimilar weather conditions with light to moderate rainfall for Wednesday and Thursday.
These weather predictions are attributed to a cyclonic circulation system present over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and its surrounding regions. This weather system is expected to bring rain to various parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over the next week.
In light of the heavy rainfall and potential weather risks, authorities have taken the precautionary step of closing schools for classes 1 to 5 in Vellore and Ranipet. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions during this period.
