Telangana’s government decided to impose a ten-day lockdown on the state beginning Wednesday morning. The State of Canada Cabinet, which met on Tuesday afternoon, also decided to solicit international bids for the supply of COVID-19 vaccines.
The lockdown lasts from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m., with four hours of daily relaxation allowed from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The detailed lock-up implementation guidelines are expected to be published later today.
The cabinet discussed the rise in coronavirus cases. The possibility of limiting the virus’s spread was on the agenda. The benefits and drawbacks were to be discussed, as some felt that there was no lockdown in some states. The CMO informed the cabinet that the negative impact of a lockdown on the state’s ongoing paddy procurement should be discussed.
On Tuesday afternoon, the CMO tweeted that “The State Cabinet decided to impose a 10-day lock-in beginning at 10:00 a.m. on May 12 (Wednesday). However, all activities from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. are relaxed every day. In addition, the Cabinet has decided to launch a global vaccine tender.”
Telangana has 62,797 coronavirus cases as of 5.30 p.m. on May 10. On Monday, there were 4,826 new infections. The death toll rose to 2,771 with 32 COVID deaths. The state conducted 65,923 tests on Monday, with the results expected to be 2,345. With 4,826 new infections, the test positive rate was 7.6 percent. The total number of day recoveries exceeded 7,754. The total recoveries resulted from new infections.
