A security guard of a girl’s hostel in south Mumbai has been accused of raping and strangulating an 18-year-old college student to death. The tragic incident took place in Mumbai, India. The accused guard was later found dead on railway tracks near the hostel. The police are currently investigating the case.
Discovery of the Crime
The police were alerted around 5 pm on Tuesday when the college student was reported missing. Her fourth-floor hostel room in the Charni Road area was found locked from the outside. Upon entering the room, the police discovered the lifeless body of the victim, who had been strangled with a piece of cloth.
Victim and Accused
The deceased victim was a student at a government polytechnic college in suburban Bandra. The accused, a security guard employed at the hostel, became a suspect in the case. However, during the investigation, it was discovered that the security guard was also found dead on the railway tracks near Charni Road station on Tuesday morning.
Legal Action
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s cousin and supported by circumstantial evidence, an FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against the security guard. The charges include murder under Indian Penal Code Section 302 and rape under Section 376. The police are continuing their investigation, awaiting the post-mortem report for further insights.
