The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Karnataka, particularly the capital and interior south parts, will receive more rainfall in the coming days. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for some districts in Tamil Nadu as well.

According to the weather department, several districts in Karnataka are expected to receive heavy downpour, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mysuru, Ramnagara, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagara. Additionally, the north interior districts of Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, Koppal, and Yadgir are also likely to experience rainfall. The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi may also witness showers.

Impact on Agriculture and School Closures

The heavy rainfall in Kolar district on Monday has adversely affected the mango crops. Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, heavy rains have disrupted normal life, leading to the closure of schools in certain districts. Chennai, suburban areas, and parts of Natrampalli in Tirupathur district experienced heavy rainfall.

The Meteorological Department’s regional office in Tamil Nadu has issued a yellow alert for some districts in the state from 3 am to 10 am on Tuesday. Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall, are expected in several districts, including Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Myladutivarai, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and the Union Territory of Puducherry and Karaikal.
