Even though Ajith Kumar’s Valimai has been in theatres for a while, the film has received mixed reviews in Tamil Nadu. While the film was praised by some of his fans and family audience as a family entertainer, it was also panned by others, including several critics, who claimed that the subject relied too heavily on sentiments and stunts that lacked substance.
Maaran, popularly known as ‘Blue Sattai’ Maaran (for wearing his trademark blue shirt) and notorious for his brash movie reviews, was heavily criticized on social media by Ajith’s fans for body shaming the actor in his Valimai review.
Several celebrities, including Sarpatta Parambarai’s John Kokken and Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4 winner and actor Aari, spoke out against his abusive remarks and vulgar language in the review. Actor John Kokken had criticized the YouTuber’s allegedly biased review of Valimai in an open letter. He reiterated that criticism helps cinema grow, but he asked ‘Blue Sattai’ Maaran to criticize with dignity.

Ajith is known as an elusive star who is only seen on the big screen. Over the last few years, he has avoided all promotional events for his own films, including audio launches and interviews. In fact, he dismantled his numerous fan clubs and urged his fans to put their time to better use rather than engaging in fan club activities and fights with other actors’ fans.
In addition to dismissing several rumors, Ajith has stated his firm belief that he will not enter politics and has asked his fans and well-wishers to refer to him as Ajith, Ajith Kumar, or AK rather than ‘Thala’ (Leader), as he was affectionately known in the past. Despite what appears to be a “long-distance relationship” with his fans, the actor’s fan base in his home state of Tamil Nadu is simply inexplicable.
On the work front, Ajith is gearing up for a hattrick collaboration with producer Boney Kapoor and director H Vinoth in the untitled AK 61, for which he is said to be losing weight and sporting a never-before-seen look. According to rumours, Ajith plays both the hero and the antagonist in the film. Meanwhile, pictures of him at his son Aadvik’s birthday party went viral, showing him with a stylish long beard and trimmed hair.
