Indira Hridayesh, a veteran Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly, died on Sunday in Delhi. She died early Sunday morning at Uttarakhand Sadan.
Hridayesh had a heart attack, according to party leaders and her staff. Hridayesh (80) travelled to Delhi on Saturday to attend organisational meetings in preparation for the 2022 assembly elections.
Hridayesh, an MLA from Haldwani in the Nainital district, was a prominent face of the party in the Kumaon region and a contender for the party’s chief ministerial candidate in the state.

Hridayesh was five times a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.
