Indira Hridayesh (80) Congress Leader Passes Away: Uttarakhand

Indira Hridayesh, a veteran Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly, died on Sunday in Delhi. She died early Sunday morning at Uttarakhand Sadan.

Hridayesh, an MLA from Haldwani in the Nainital district, was a prominent face of the party in the Kumaon region and a contender for the party’s chief ministerial candidate in the state.

Hridayesh was five times a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.

In 2002, 2012 and 2017 she was elected to the Uttarakhand MLA. In ND Tiwari, Vijay Bahughuna and Harish Rawat she served as Cabinet Minister. “She had great administrative and organisational capabilities.
