Vicky Kaushal doesn’t shy away from experimenting, whether it’s movies or his workout. The latest Instagram video from the Raazi actor is evidence.
Vicky recently posted a video that shows what appears to be a dance movement. And early in the morning he practised it. He underlined the post, “Rise and learn.”
But what he is doing is actually called Capoeira. Capoeira is the form of Brazilian martial arts, combining dance, music and acrobatics.
It goes back to the enslaved Africans of the early 16th century who practised in Brazil. Their fighting techniques have been covered up in dance and music.
Although Capoeira was declared illegal at the end of the 19th century, it was soon incorporated into martial arts in the 20th century following the abolition of slavery in Brazil.
Unesco granted the art form in November 2014 a special protected status as a “intangible cultural heritage.”
The actor Uri makes the ‘goinga’ movement in his video, a rocking step which is Capoeira’s fundamental, nearly rhythmic footwork.
